I got my first manicure in 7 months yesterday – a sure sign that wedding season is officially over for me this year…nail polish and white silk are not a match made in heaven. I’m spending the autumn season working with rich, vibrant colours for a new S/S 2016 project – more on that in a later post. In the meantime, I thought I’d take the opportunity to follow on from Diary of a Wedding Dress: Part 1 to show you the finer detail of the design that featured.
The beauty of a bespoke wedding gown speaks for itself. It takes many hours of intense work & a detailed knowledge of refined couture techniques to create a flawless finish. Detailed toile fittings have ensured that the finished gown will be a perfect fit, meaning the finer detail can now take centre precedence. In this case, “the finer detail” is not intricate embroidery or beading. Rather, this is finer detail of perhaps a more seemingly mundane nature but nonetheless important for the final outcome. Take for example the hundreds of tiny, barely-there hand sewn stitches in the hem; quilting the bodice lining so that it doesn’t slip – again, all intricately sewn by hand; and simple touches such as hand made buttons. Little things, yes, but details are not details. They make the design.
